As the softest mineral (Mohs hardness 1), talc offers natural lubricity and water-repellent behaviour, valuable in plastics processing (reduced friction, improved flow), cosmetics and waterproofing compounds.
Talc's flat, lamellar particles improve reinforcement and barrier properties in plastics and rubber, and support matting/sheen control in paint.
Supports appearance and opacity requirements in paint and paper applications.
Low reactivity makes talc stable across formulations, a key reason the TALC IP grade qualifies for food-grade use.
